Welcome to the Sarah Banks PTSA, this site contains information, forms, minutes and much more to keep you informed about what is happening at our PTSA.  We hope that the 2010-2011 year is very successful for our students, teachers,administrators and parents -- together we can worked to provide the best educational experience for your student.

INVOLVEMENT

Parents .. We want and need your involvement - if you can help in anyway, volunteer, chairperson, help with food donations or anything at all please contact us at 248-956-2214 or by email at dbitherpta@sbcglobal.net.  Statistics show that students whose parents are involved in school do BETTER in school. 

STUDENT PARTICIPATION

Middle school is the time when students are invited to join so that they can have a voice in what our unit is doing.   Student membership is $4 and you can join online by using family access.  This year, we have a few special opportunities for our student PTSA members:

  • All Banks Student PTSA members will be admitted into our first and last activity night free of charge.  These after-school events are lots of fun and well attended by our student population.
  • Each month the Banks PTSA will hold a raffle for student PTSA members and give away small gift and Itunes cards.

You can also join the PTSA by filling out the form that was sent home and returning it to school.

PTSA MEETINGS

The Banks PTSA usually meets on the second Monday of most months at 6:30 in the media center.  Here is the 2010-2011 schedule:

  • Monday, September 13, 2010
  • Monday, October 11, 2010
  • Monday, November 8, 2010
  • Monday, January 10, 2010 - Nomination committee formed
  • Tuesday, February 15, 2010
  • Monday, March 14, 2010  - Nominations of 2011- 2012 officers
  • Tuesday, April 12, 2010 - Election of 20111- 2012 officers
  • Monday, May 9, 2010 

During the meetings, updates on school, treasurers reports and upcoming events will be provided. Often votes will be taken on spending. All members including students are invited to participate.

PTSA Activities

The Banks PTSA sponsors a wide-variety of events and activities, here are just a few:

  • 4 fun-filled afterschool activity nights with DJ, food and fun
  • Family Dinner Night on January 28, 2011
  • Concession stands for afterschool games
  • Spirit Wear
  • Reflections

PTSA Fundraising

We must fund raise in order to provide money for school grants, activities and scholarships for field trips.  With fewer dollars coming from Lansing to support education, we will be asked to help our students even more than we have in the past. Here is how you can help:

  • Bucks for Banks  - For the 4th consecutive year, the Banks PTSA

  •  Store Givebacks or Cause Marketing -  Many retail stores participate in what is called Cause Marketing or Store Givebacks.  Kroger, Target, Hillers, Shaklee and more offer programs that will return a percentage of your purchase back to the PTSA.  More information can be found under Fundraising.

We cannot provide programs for our students without fundraising -- we need your help -- please participate in one or more of these programs.

The national PTA motto is every child, one voice and that is our guiding principle.   PTA is more than 100 years old and is the largest child advocacy group in the world, fighting for children's rights.  At Banks PTSA, we beleive that all of our students should be given the opportunity to succeed and we want to be a part of making sure that it happens.
