Eligibility
Eligible students must turn 5 years old between September 1, 2024 and December 1, 2024. We are unable to accept students beyond our December 1 cutoff.
*Please Note - Siblings of current Schools of Choice families are eligible for Junior Kindergarten for 2024-2025.

Walled Lake Consolidated Schools is excited to offer our families Junior Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year!
Junior Kindergarten will support kindergarten readiness through a play-based curriculum. Our program will cultivate academic and social-emotional learning along with opportunities for play, creativity, and social skill development.
Junior Kindergarten Application
The 2024-25 application window for Junior Kindergarten is CLOSED. Applications were accepted from January 30, 2024 until February 12, 2024. You may still add your child's name to the waitlist. We will contact you if a spot opens in one of our Junior Kindergarten classrooms.
WLCSD Junior Kindergarten Waitlist - 2024-25
Families will receive an email on March 1, 2024 that will notify you of either a placement in a Junior Kindergarten classroom or placement onto a waitlist. Those that are accepted into Junior Kindergarten will begin the district registration process in March.
Junior Kindergarten Timeline
- December 12, 2023 - January 5, 2024: JK interest form open
- January 30 - February 12, 2024: Application window open
- March 1, 2024: Families that filled out the application are notified via email of placement into junior kindergarten or deferment to the wait list
- March 13, 2024: Junior Kindergarten Orientation
- March 14, 2024: District registration for Junior Kindergarten opens

Program Highlights
- Full day, five days a week
- NO COST to families of eligible students
- Typical Grade Progression - Year 1: Junior Kindergarten, Year 2: Kindergarten
- Same start/end times as our elementary schools
- Follows the WLCSD school year calendar
- Prime Time Care available to students at a cost
- Bus transportation available if your child's home school has a junior kindergarten program.
- Families would need to coordinate transportation to/from school if your child's home school is not one of those schools.
