Les Miserables-School Edition returns to Walled Lake Western High School After doing the Midwest premier of Les Miserables-School Edition seven years ago to sold out audiences, Walled Lake Western High School, 600 Beck Rd., Walled Lake, announces they will perform the show again on Nov. 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 7:30 p.m., and on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets go on sale, October 12 and can be purchased online at http://www.wlwmusical.com or by phone at (248) 956-4625. Ticket prices range from $16 - $18 for adults and $12 - $14 for students and seniors. Discount tickets are also available for groups of 20 or more. “Les Miserables is the world’s most favorite musical”, said Gregory Cleveland, Walled Lake Western’s Choir Director and Producer of the musical. “The show has been translated into 33 different languages and 40 – 60 productions are performed every night around the world.” Cleveland added, “The cast and crew at Western strive to make each musical they perform as authentic to the Broadway production as possible. This year, Western’s show will again feature a 32 foot revolving motorized stage with a one ton, 12-foot-high moving barricade!” Les Miserables is an epic story that recounts the struggle of the people of France in 19th century against the aristocracy. The story follows Jean Valjean, who was imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, and Javert, the relentless Inspector who pursues him. After Valjean is released from his 19-year term, he becomes an honest man, the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father. But because he is in violation of his parole, Javert is able to make it impossible for him to make a decent life for himself. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean's adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed and able to face Javert. Walled Lake Western High School is one of four high schools in the Walled Lake School district and touts one of the best performing arts programs in the area. Its choirs have received over 265 Superior and Excellent Awards in district and state choir festivals since 1990.
