Safety and Security

Dr. Bernia and members of the District's central office team routinely meet with law enforcement officers  representing municipalities from across our school district. The group discussed and collaborated on a series of topics focusing on how to ensure our learning spaces are as safe as possible.

The District maintains detailed safety procedures and protocols which are used across our buildings. These protocols outline procedures for various scenarios, including but not limited to fire, severe weather, medical emergencies, and building emergencies. Protocols and procedures are regularly reviewed and practiced in collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency services.

Access to the school premises is carefully monitored. All visitors are required to check in at the main office and wear a visitor badge while in our schools. Exterior doors are locked during school hours, and access is granted only through designated, secure entry points.

To enhance security, District buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance systems that monitors key areas of our District buildings. This system records events to ensure the safety of our school community.

Regular safety drills are conducted throughout the school year to familiarize students, staff, and volunteers with emergency procedures. These drills include fire drills, severe weather drills, and lockdown drills.

Ensuring the emotional well-being of our students is a crucial aspect of safety. We have a team of trained staff who are available to assist students who may be struggling with emotional or psychological challenges.
