Amy Rathsburg is a 2002 graduate of Walled Lake Central. While at Central, she was named the Top Senior of her graduating class. She was the Student Council President and was very involved in National Honr Society. She played the violin in orchestra and participated in Spanish club, newspaper, and morning announcements. She also played varsity tennis, varsity volleyball, varsity soccer and basketball.

After high school, Rathsburg went to the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she received a BS in Electrical Engineering. She was able to continue her athletic career in college with a partial scholarship for volleyball. Rathsburg graduated in 2007 and is a current member of the University of Michigan-Dearborn Industrial Advisory Board.

Rathsburg is the current president and part of the third generation of family owners at Rathsburg Associates, Inc. She has held almost every position at the company and is working alongside her siblings, Rachel Rathsburg and Bob Rathsburg, who are also both graduates of Walled Lake Central. Rathsburg Associates is a manufacturer’s representative firm specializing in technical sales for electronic components that contracts with some of the largest semiconductor companies in the world.

Rathsburg’s favorite thing to do when not at work is to spend time with her family, including her two kids, Abigail and Jack. She also loves golfing and is able to get out every now and then with her husband, Chris, and sister, Rachel.

Rathsburg adored her time in Walled Lake, from Twin Beach and Pleasant Lake, to Clifford Smart, and throughout high school at Walled Lake Central. She often says, “I wish I could do high school all over again because it was so much fun!”

She mentioned that there were so many amazing teachers and professionals in Walled Lake that had an impact on her life: her elementary gym teacher, Mr. Emert, her 4th grade teacher Mrs. Young (Clark), her volleyball coach Mr. “L” Lindstrom, to name a few. One of her favorite teachers was her two-time math teacher, Mrs. Eklund, who she’s recently been fortunate enough to connect with after 22 years.

Rathsburg’s two kids have just started their time in Walled Lake Consolidated Schools, and she couldn’t be more excited for them. Her daughter, Abby, is at Pleasant Lake with Mrs. Raymond, who was a teacher she knew during her days at Twin Beach and Pleasant Lake. Her son, Jack, is starting at the Early Childhood Center.

Her advice to current students is to get involved and be present.

“If you are unsure, just try it out and decide if you like it,” said Rathsburg. “It will give you a great platform to build the rest of your life upon.
