Two Walled Lake Central gymnasts qualify for the MHSAA State Championships

Walled Lake Central seniors Shaylee McCain and Mariam Pellerito are headed to Grand Rapids this weekend for the MHSAA Individual State Championships at Kenowa Hills High School.

McCain is capping her high school with her fourth-straight trip to the Division 1 State Finals. In 2024, she became the first Walled Lake gymnast to place at the meet since 2018 and just the third in program history to earn All-State honors. McCain will look to climb to the top of the podium this year in the All-Around, which includes the Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor events.

Pellerito will compete in the Division 2 State Finals for the second-straight year after qualifying on the Vault. In 2024, she placed 34th overall with her floor routine.
