Schools of Choice - Section 105 (Limited)

The 2026-27 Application Period runs from January 26 through February 13 at 4 p.m.Limited seats are available in most schools for junior kindergarten through 10th grade. Please note - not all schools  will have openings at every grade level and applications will not be accepted for students entering 11th and 12th grade.

Application Procedure

Please be sure that you complete the application in its entirety.*Please note - Discipline records from the 23-24, 24-25 and 25-26 school year must also be included with your application. Discipline records are not required for current Walled Lake Consolidated Schools students applying for Schools of Choice because they moved out of the district. Discipline records are also not required for incoming junior kindergarteners or kindergartners.   

  • Applications must be received during our application period of January 26 through February 13.
  • Applications will not be accepted before January 26th or after February 13, by 4 p.m.
  • Applications will be reviewed for accurate information. This may involve contacting the student’s current school.
  • The district must accept eligible applicants (Section 105 of the State School Aid Act MCL 388.1705) in the following order:
    • Students residing in the same household as students enrolled under Section 105 in the immediately preceding school year.
    • If necessary, other students will be selected according to a random draw system, which must also be used to establish a waiting list. The waiting list will be based on the order in which the non-resident applicants were drawn.
  • Your acceptance is conditional until Walled Lake Consolidated Schools reviews all previous school discipline reports.
  • You will be notified by either email or U.S. mail the status of your application around the end of February.
  • Once enrolled, the student may remain in Walled Lake Consolidated Schools until graduation. This does not prohibit Walled Lake Consolidated Schools from expelling a pupil for disciplinary reasons.
  • A district may refuse to enroll an applicant who has been suspended within the preceding two years or who has ever been expelled. 

Athletics

Students in Grade 9 will be eligible for athletics. Students in Grade 10 may be ineligible for athletics for up to two semesters. Please contact the Walled Lake Consolidated Schools' Athletic Department regarding MHSAA eligibility rules. 

Student Conduct Code

All Walled Lake Consolidated Schools Student Conduct Code rules, procedures and policies will apply to all students who enter the district through the Schools of Choice – Section 105 program. A Student Conduct Code booklet will be provided at time of enrollment.

Transportation 

Parents of Schools of Choice students are expected to provide transportation to and from school.
