Summer Care FAQs
What is the ration of children to adults?
The State of Michigan requires a 1 to 18 ratio and Walled Lake Consolidated Schools provides a 1 to 10 ratio. Our field trips are a ratio of 1 to 5, which is Walled Lake Consolidated Schools' policy.
What grades can attend Summer Care?
Students entering kindergarten through sixth grade for the Fall of 2024 can attend Summer Care.
Do you provide lunch?
We do not provide lunch. We ask that you bring a peanut free lunch and water bottle labeled with your child's name daily.
Do you provide snacks?
We do not provide snacks. We ask that you bring two peanut free snacks daily.
What is your dress code?
Children will be playing inside and outside. We ask that they have play clothes on and shoes and socks. Please refrain from sandals and flips flops, as they are more likely to fall and get hurt.
Does my child need sunscreen?
Yes, we ask that you provide a bottle of sunscreen with your child's name on it.
Do I need to sign my child in and out of Summer Care daily?
Yes, for your child's safety, Summer Care and the State of Michigan require that children must be signed in and out of the program by a parent or person listed on the Registration/Emergency Form.
Can my child take medication while in Summer Care?
Yes, if your child will need prescribed medication (ie. inhaler, Epi-Pen, Ritalin, etc.), the district's Authorization of Medication form must be signed by your doctor and sent to our office. You may pick up the form at your school, download it above, or use the existing form you already have on file. Your medication must be in the original prescription package or bottle, or it will not be accepted.
What is your policy for schedule changes?
To ensure we have enough staff for any given day, we require any changes in writing. All changes for June are due by May 24, changes for July are due by June 22, and changes for August are due by July 21. If you find you need to make a schedule change or you are canceling, you must do it in writing via email to Terri Szymanski. After the calendar due dates, no credit will be given for canceled or "no-show" days. Please note - There will be no refunds on field trip days.
How do I fill out my calendar?
You may choose they days you want by circling each day on the calendar.
What time are you open?
We are open on Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Is there a cooler or microwave available for my child's packed lunch?
We do not have a cooler or a microwave available. If your child's lunch needs refrigeration, you will need to put an ice pack in their lunch box.
